“Love and Vanity”

Münchner Jugend Zeitschrift 1916 – “Liebe und Eitelkeit” – Vintage Illustration Download

Art Nouveau illustration for your print project as a download! This subtle drawing “Love and Vanity” comes from the pen of Polish artist Edward Okuń and was created in 1916 for the famous Munich magazine Jugend. The motif shows a graceful woman in a magnificent peacock costume – a symbol of beauty, vanity and transience. Her seductive gaze, the flowing forms and the artistic splendor of the feathers reflect the self-image of the sophisticated society of that time. Love and vanity are closely linked: beauty as a means of seduction, but also as a mirror of one’s own ego.

Now available as a high-quality image download: ideal for DIY wall art, nostalgic postcards or creative printing projects with historical charm.

The image preview is heavily reduced in size and protected with a watermark. In the purchased version, this will be removed.

Restoration & Quality

The motif was cleaned, retouched, imperfections removed and the colors adjusted. The image quality is very good. Nevertheless, please note: this vintage illustration is over 100 years old. We have not digitally altered the motif. It still has an authentic charm.

Usage & Download

After purchase, the motif can be used for your creative, personal printing projects. Use is restricted to private use. You can find more info below in the “Download Dos and Don’ts” tab.

Printing recommendation

A little tip for everyone: The illustration looks particularly beautiful on matte natural paper. A smooth surface that is white but not too bright white is ideal. This is how the colors come into their own.
