Reigen Magazine Cover 1922 – Seaside Flirt
Exotic image download for your print project! A seaside flirtation in the 1920s – sensual, exciting and strong. The motif comes from the Berlin graphic artist Ludwig Lutz Ehrenberger and appeared in 1922 as the cover of the legendary Reigen Magazine, which was known for its frivolous and artistically sophisticated illustrations. Ehrenberger often depicted women lightly dressed, but always as strong, self-determined personalities – as in this motif.
The image preview is heavily reduced in size and protected with a watermark. This will be removed in the purchased version.
Restoration & Quality
The motif was cleaned, retouched, imperfections removed and the colors adjusted. The image quality is very good. Nevertheless, please note: this vintage illustration is over 100 years old. We have not digitally altered the motif. It still has an authentic charm.
Usage & Download
After purchase, the motif can be used for your creative, personal printing projects. Use is restricted to private use. You can find more info below in the “Download Dos and Don’ts” tab.
Printing recommendation
The motif is particularly effective when printed on uncoated paper without gloss. No or very little structure. The paper should be white, but not bright white. A very, very light beige shade of paper also suits this illustration.

Reigen – Sheets for gallant art and dance – fought for the recognition of eroticism as a cultural factor. The magazine was confiscated in some German cities in the 1920s. Here is an original excerpt from the 1920 issue of Reigen: “In the future, the magazine will continue to cultivate the art of cheerful and uninhibited gallantry in word and image, in verse and prose. Even in our serious times, the erotic has not lost its cultural significance, even if it sometimes seems as if its flowering lies in bygone eras. Perhaps the significance of the inner joy of life rooted in the erotic has even increased in a time that is not too rich in external pleasures.”
